Biography

Marina’s production explores concepts of movement, weight and the passage of time in various media, focusing on textile pieces developed from a reverse weaving process. By unraveling the horizontal or vertical lines of the fabrics, she gives the weave a new structure of light and shadow, tension and distension. The result is a kinetic reconfiguration of the constructive and sculptural logic of the original material.

In her main series Tecido, the artist establishes a constant negotiation with the material, which yields or resists and obeys, like everything else, the law of gravity. The works are displayed vertically and invite the viewer not to touch, but to blow on them – since a light wind is enough to set them in motion. She rigorously pushes her practice to the limit, seeking new designs that challenge the orthogonality of the weave and result in unprecedented structures to explore dichotomies.
