Galeria Ybakatu, invited by the Raquel Arnaud gallery, presents works by the artist Hugo Mendes, the exhibition is part of the Art Weekend São Paulo 2017 action, proposed by ABACT’s Latitude Project.

Hugo Mendes works in the interstice of artisanal and industrial manufacturing. He seeks for production to be part of decanting processes and to allow observations on the artistic imaginary, production and work, authorial distance, reflective non-linearity, recognized unfamiliarity and interpretive uncertainty. Currently, he researches the body imagery in the sculptural field, either through or through the symbolic image of body details, with their due disproportions and with the combination of disparate elements, converting them into independent beings or bodies. Procedure that proposes a dialogue between work and eroticism, seduction and estrangement.
