Celebrating his 30 years of career, the painter and painting professor at ECA/USP Marco Giannotti presents – Entropia – an exhibition that brings together around 10 canvases in different dimensions, occupying the second floor of the Raquel Arnaud Gallery. The artist started from urban waste such as grids, structures, fragments, and plants to create this new series. The objects were printed on the surface of the canvases, in order to create images against an intensely chromatic background. To make such prints, Giannotti used the most varied techniques: from oil painting, through tempera, to graffiti.

Focusing on chromatic research throughout his career, Giannotti says that colors appear on surfaces and volumes and seem to change at every moment, creating “a world in suspension”. For the artist, the figures seem to float, defying the rules of gravity and perspective and evoking a feeling in which everything “that is solid melts into thin air” and, in a way, reflects on the current context.
